Arts Integration - The Next Food Show Host: Food History & Communications

When watching your favorite cooking shows it’s apparent chefs, food critics and judges usually can do two things other than cook. What do you think they are?

Demonstrate knowledge of food history and use various adjectives to describe taste and texture. Knowing a food’s history and broadening the vocabulary associated with food will help the student not only be a better food show host but a better writer, critic, waiter, waitress or restaurant manager.  In life they will become better conversationalists about food.

In this course, students will analyze the foods they experience in everyday life, research foods and develop sophisticated conversations about food.  Students will role play as a food reporter and food expert. The student will submit a food blog post to be published at Multi Cultural Cooking Network and complete the course with a video project.  We upload the videos to our YouTube Channel and students are given an edited copy.  This course is taught by Crystal Johnson, a long time food critic and food blog editor.

Enrollment Open to Grades 3rd to 11th Grade. Courses adjusted to grade levels. Create a virtual pod with friends now.  One on one remote classes available too.
